Louisbourg by Night

This is the third painting in a series of four Nova Scotia lighthouses. The original Louisbourg lighthouse was the first in Canada, built in 1734 to assist navigation to the Fortress of Louisbourg. Badly damaged and abandoned in 1758, a wooden one was built in 1842 and was later destroyed by fire. The lighthouse we see there today is the third one and was built in 1923 and decorated with neoclassical architectural features. 24" x 36" acrylic on Canvas (Sold)

Sutherlands Steam Mill

Located in Denmark, near Tatamagouche, the mill was able to make anything to build and beautify your home! In the 1890’s steam power was the way of the future and Alexander Sutherland took this innovation and built his steam mill right next to the railroad. Today the mill is a museum. This is the second painting in a series of four Nova Scotia lighthouses. Sitting on a granite outcrop with its red beacon light marking the eastern entrance to St. Margaret's Bay is the iconic lighthouse at Peggy's Point Cove. Painted with a whimsical twist, this is one of the most photographed structures in Atlantic Canada and one of the most recognizable lighthouses in the world. (Sold)
